Lucknow, 26 Nov 2014 : Former attorney general of Uttar Pradesh Syed Mohammad Ali Kazmi has died in road accident on Tuesday. He was 58 and survived by his wife, one son and on daughter. According to reports, his car met an accident when he was trying to save two motor-cycle borne riders at Bhadri crossing under the Hathgaonwa police station in Pratapgarh distirct of the State. However, his car hit a tree , he was rushed to hospital but he did not survive. In the ill-fated car, his three accomplices were also injured. The accident occurred when he was returning from Allahabad to Lucknow.
Mr Kazmi’s home town was Kanpur but he was settled in Lucknow. He was also appointed as chairman of the State Minority Commission and a member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. During the Mayawati government he was made AG of the state government. Besides writing a weekly column to Urdu daily Inquliab, he was involved in the social activities in the state.
