New Delhi: Expressing frustration over the underutilisation of funds by the Union ministry of minority affairs, a special parliamentary panel has declined to give any further suggestions to the ministry on the matter.
Out of the Rs. 4,195.48 crores allocated, only 66.58 per cent have seen spent by the ministry.
The committee, headed by BJP MP Ramesh Bais, mentioned that the underutilisation of funds was due to the same reasons as in previous years. .The panel, in its report, has observed it has now become a perennial problem of the ministry and that it is almost helpless to stop the trend of spending 30 per cent to 40 per cent of their allocation in “about last month” of the financial year.
The report reads “As all of the recommendations given by the committee all these years to comply with the monetary jurisprudence haven’t made any influence on the working of the ministry within the matter, the Committee wouldn’t prefer to touch upon this facet anymore.”
The report was presented in Parliament last Thursday.
