New Delhi: As the death toll has been risen to 50 in the last week’s anti-Muslim pogrom, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday led a delegation of party MPs to riot-hit areas in North-East Delhi. Without taking the name of BJP, he severely castigated the ruling party for its divisive and communal politics. He said the communal violence in the national capital has tarnished the image of the country all over the world.
As more than one week has been passed to the violence broke out in this part of the Delhi with an aim to crush the anti-CAA movement, main opposition Congress party leaders today visited violence affected areas for the first timed under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. However, in a bid to hide its alleged complicity in the riots, the Delhi police “advised” Rahul Gandhi not to proceed further citing him “security reasons’.
“Respecting” the police advice, he hasn’t gone beyond Brijpuri Nala to visit the worst affected areas and the camps where people took shelter. After visiting the burnt school there which was set on fire by the Hindutva mob during riots, Gandhi said this school was the future of India and here hatred and violence has devastated it, burnt it down and no one has benefited from this act.
In response to a question, he said violence and hatred are the enemies of development.
“Whatever is happening today, the India is being divided, being torched, Mother India do not benefit from such actions. It is a time of pain and I have come here to tell you that all of us will have to unite & work together with love and India can be taken forward only by uniting all sections in the country.”
Coming down heavily on the ruling party and its politics of hate, he said India’s image has been tarnished at the international level because of violence in the national capital.
“When violence occurs in the country, in the capital of the country, it tarnishes the reputation of India all over the world. Brotherhood, unity & love have been the strength of the country. That has been damaged.”
When his attention was drawn that Congress demanded full day discussion on the Delhi Violence in Parliament, he said hate politics has not just damaged this school but has also hurt the country.
Earlier, Congress has formed a team of party leaders on February 28 which was supposed to visit the riot-hit areas but none them went there. Many riot-affected people told Muslim Mirror that it is good to see at least Rahul Gandhi came to share their grief. However, they also complained that he did not visit the worst affected areas and the families whose members were killed in the violence.
There were many riots in this country in past and our countrys admin is ineffective in controlling and preventing it.
But it is now 2020 an era of information technology and database and it makes the world very small. At this time, if govt comes with excuse then it is simply non sense and illogical.
