Kota: A sit-in protest (dharna) was organized by Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) at Kota Collectrate on Monday. The protest-dharna was against the demolition of a Madarsa by UIT administration in Kailashpuri area without intimating or taking into confidence the local residents, intellectuals or the esteemed Qazi of Kota.
During the entire episode the role of UTI Secretary Mohan Lal Yadav’s was completely negative. During the event the local women even pleaded to take out the books and the Holy Quran but they didn’t allow for that. The Holy Quran and other books fell to the ground and they were damaged due to the rubble that fell on them. This led to the hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims and created unrest in the city
UTI Secretary did not make any serious considerations while demolishing the Masjid and did not give regard to the dignity of a religious place, said SDPI National Chief Secretary Muhammad Shafi.
UTI administration and secretary are responsible for the unrest that followed. Our prime demand is that the for gross irregularity exercised in the entire episode the UTI secretary should be held responsible for demolishing a religious place, for disrespecting the Holy Quran, for hurting religious sentiments of the people and for creating unrest and a case should be booked against him and he should be arrested added Muhammad Shafi.
Moreover many innocent people who arrived on the site to see the demolished mosque as their sentiments were hurt have been booked in different cases. Their names should be removed from the cases and police should stop arresting them.
SDPI district secretary Zafar Chisti said that the incident that took place at the behest of UTI secretary is very unfortunate and prejudiced. If the UTI secretary and all other officials involved in the incident are not booked and arrested immediately by and the demolished part of the mosque is not built soon rebuilt by the UTI administration then we definitely start a series of protests until our demand is fulfilled.
On the occasion thousands of people from around the city gathered and expressed anger on the demolition of Madarsa. They supported the demand of removing charges from innocent people and rebuilding the demolished part of mosque.
