ALIGARH : Mr. Sabahuddin Ahmad, an alumnus of the Aligarh Muslim University and the first recipient of the International Summer Research Award (ISRA) of Sir Syed Education Society of North America (SSESA) has started his internship at Loyola Medical School in Chicago, USA. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between AMU and SSESA in 2013 to facilitate short-term internships of AMU students and alumni in research laboratories in the US.
Mr. Sabahuddin Ahmad has been provided full support with a monthly stipend and shall spend this summer conducting research in the area of gut immunity in response to injury and alcohol trauma. He will be using his Bioinformatics background to carry out Microarray analysis on human tissue.
Mr. Ahmad completed his B.Sc. in Botany from the Aligarh Muslim University in 2011 and joined Jamia Millia Islamia for a M.Sc. in Bioinformatics.
SSESA also administers the prestigious Sir Syed Emerging Scholar Award to AMU students to help them pursue higher education at top graduate schools around the world. ISRA is expected to complement the overarching mission of SSESA to prepare and guide talented AMU students in their pursuit of academic excellence.
