New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama Hind’s president Maulana Mahmood Madani will be questioned again in connection with allegedly issuing halal certificates through illegal means. According to Amar Ujala Online, Maulana Madani has been summoned to the UP-STF (Special Task Force) headquarters in the state capital after Eid.
It is evident that the STF had previously questioned Maulana Madani for two days in February. Sources claim that after questioning Maulana Madani and four other officials associated with the Halal Certification Trust, the STF has found several important leads.
Investigations have revealed that the revenue generated from the distribution of halal certificates has been transferred to several companies, some of which are suspected to be shell companies.
This is the reason the STF has called Maulana Madani for further questioning. In fact, Maulana Madani is also the chairman of the trust associated with the halal institution.
Following the issuance of the FIR in this case, Maulana Madani, along with Maulana Mudasser, Habib Yusuf Patel, Anwar Khan, and Mohammad Tahir, has been arrested. All four arrested individuals are associated with the Halal Council of India.
It should be noted that Mahmood Madani faction of JUH had issued Halal certificate to Yoga guru Ramdev’s Patanjali group in 2020. The Muslim circles alleged that a hefty sum of money might have changed the hands for issuing Halal certificate to the Patanjali group which, they suspect, uses cow urine in making its products. By this act, they also alleged that the Mahmood faction has extended indirect help to Ramdev who is known for his pro-government and pro-RSS stances.
