Maulana Arshad Madani, the chief of Jamiat Ulema E Hind, the largest Muslim body in India, on Wednesday said that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has openly said that the religious rights of Muslims will be taken away and nobody can do anything about it.
The Maulana Madani, who is also a member of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board, participated in an emergency meeting on Tuesday night following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm stance on implementing a uniform civil code.
PM Modi had expressed that a country, much like a family, cannot function effectively with two sets of laws or different rules for its members.
During the three-hour meeting, the Law Board reached a decision to present its perspectives to the Law Commission, which had requested input from various stakeholders.
However, Maulana Madani expressed his scepticism and indicated that he did not have high expectations regarding the outcome of this process.
“We know whatever the Law Commission decides — it will not be based on what we say, no matter how many thousands of delegations or requests we send. It will take into account the views of the government… Now that the PM is supporting it, expecting the Law Commission to take our views into account is too much,” he told NDTV.
When asked about how the Muslim community might respond, Maulana Madani said,”What can the Muslims do in these circumstances… What can anyone do? I have asked Muslims not to hit the roads. They can put their views across in a dignified manner”.
When questioned about the potential course of action that the Muslims might take if the Uniform Civil Code is implemented, he stated, “What can we do anyway? What more can we lose?”
“Our masjid is gone, what could we do? We can only keep the faith alive in our daily lives, if god wills,” he added, referring to the Babri Masjid of Ayodhya that was pulled down by Kar Sevaks in 1992.
The Uniform Civil Code entails a comprehensive set of laws that are applicable to all individuals within the country, superseding religion-based personal laws related to matters such as inheritance, adoption, and succession.
Article 44 of the Indian Constitution emphasizes the State’s objective to strive for a uniform civil code across the entire territory of India. It asserts that matters of a secular nature, such as marriage, divorce, and succession, should not be influenced by religious affiliations or considerations.
Allah is our Lord and the sustainer and we believe whatever circumstances come are from almighty Allah the present situation is from him and its in return of our disobedience and arrogance.
The solution is simple if every Muslim repents and makes a firm intention of obeying Allah taala he will change the situation into our favour inshaa Allah
