On Wednesday night, motorcycle-borne assailants targeted two mosques in Tauru, Nuh district, Haryana, and hurled Molotov cocktails, causing damage to both religious sites. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the attacks that occurred around 11:30 pm.
The mosques under attack were located near Vijay Chowk and a police station, respectively. As a result of the attacks, both structures sustained damage, but action from the authorities prevented the fires from spreading further. Fire brigades were quickly dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the flames.
Adding to the unrest in the region, a bangle shop in Palwal district’s Minar Gate market was also set ablaze by unidentified assailants, further escalating the tension in the area.
The situation in Nuh and Palwal districts remains tense, prompting the authorities to enforce prohibitory orders to prevent any further escalation of communal violence. The recent unrest in Nuh began on Monday when a mob attempted to halt a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession. The situation spiraled out of control, leading to mobs killing a cleric, torching an eatery, and vandalizing shops in Nuh and neighboring Gurugram on Tuesday.
Law enforcement agencies are investigating the incidents, and there are reports of additional measures being taken to curb the violence.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the attacks on the mosques and the bangle shop. The police continue to appeal to the public for any information that could assist in their investigation.
