Chennai: MLA and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi party’s president Prof. MH Jawahirullah has expressed his gratitude to polticial leaders, film stars, activists and journalists who stood in solidarity with Muslim girls in their fight to wear hijab.
“I express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Noble hearted souls who stood up to express their support to Muslim Girls’ Right to wear Hijab,” Prof. Jawahirullah said in a statement.
He further hailed the parties, whose MPs walked out of the parliament in protest against the BJP and Sangh Parivar’s attempt to “deprive students of the right to enter the campus wearing hijab”. He said that the MPs stood by the constitutional rights of female Muslim students.
MPs of Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, CPM, CPI, Vidutalai Siruthaigal Katchi and JMM had staged a walkout from Lok Sabha on Tuesday in connection with the same.
From Poets, Writers, Journalists , Painters, Academics , Filmstars, Polticians, to Retired civil servants from all over India, especially from Tamil Nadu, have been vocal in support of the rights of Muslim Girls, Prof. Jawahirullah said.
“Once again establishing Tamil Nadu as a model state for secularism and social harmony forever, Hindu and Christian brothers are increasingly showing support for Muslims by encouraging their daughters to pose wearing hijabs and posting them on social media,” he added.
