All preparations are complete for the swearing-in ceremony of the new prime minister. The installation ceremony of Narendra Modi is expected to be as grand as was the election campaign that preceded it. Guests of course include a variety of people — old and new friends, enemies, “maaN beta”, the “MiaN” from Pakistan, actors and actresses, chaiwalaas and shahzaadas, topiwalas and tilakwalaas. And of course we are going to hear a speech full of new idioms, new expressions and new messages delivered in a new style.
I was moved when Modi delivered his speech at the end of being elected the leader of the BJP parliamentary party. The nation saw his new avatar. Advani was in his usual self: cunning and vindictive. He did not miss the opportunity to make a taunting remark. Modi returned the remark with a rare display of emotions and tears. It was not he who did “Kirpa” on the party because “sons can never do kirpaas on mothers.” It was a scene full of sentiment and substance, which moved all those who were watching. I too could not hold myself for a moment. I can never see tears in anybody’s eyes. My eyes are always eager to do the same. But the very next moment I wondered why he did not ever show the same emotional outburst at the mention of Gujarat riots where thanks to his “kirpa” things happened that are still haunting the memories of the conscientious people of the country.. Had he done so perhaps the election campaign could not have been as acrimonious as it ultimately turned out. The biggest challenge for Modi of course will be to convince the nation that he will no more be a divisive figure for the country. He is technically the Prime Minister of the nation and he has to prove it through his actions.
This will perhaps be the most difficult task for him, even tougher than controlling inflation, bringing black money back to the country and giving corruption-free governance. The other day, Zafar Sareshwala in his defence of Modi in “AAp Ki Adalat” on India TV quoted him saying, “I can come to power without the support of Muslims, but I cannot do governance without the support of 20 crore Muslims of the country.” From the surface, it looks to be a great statement with great sentiment. But if examined closely, it is fraught with dangerous implications. He presided over one of the biggest riots in the history of the country. That kept him in power for 12 years in Gujarat and as the memories and accusations did not leave him, he used the anti-Modi propaganda to rise to where he stands now. In the process, another riots in Muzafafr Nagar helped him sweep Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. 1984 anti-Sikh riots too had brought maximum number of seats to Congress. It is the most unfortunate truth in this country that riots bring political dividends. A big section of the majority community loves leaders who can “teach lessons: to minorities. I have seen dozens of people on social media saying that “the Gujarat riots have silenced Muslims of the state and there is a need of similar lessons in the whole country.” If Modi and his party are convinced that demolitions and riots enhance hold on the power structure of the country, they can always have this as an open option. “First three years for governance and next three years for retaining power through communal card” can be a perfect strategy. Hopefully he revises his principle stated by Sareshwala to, “Come what may, I will never use the communal card or riots to sustain or retain power.” He has to be convinced in his heart that the power cannot be generated from the ruins and corpses. In that case, Muslims will not even wait for seeing tears in his eyes in the memory of the victims of Gujarat and Muzaffar Nagar riots.

AAP KI ADALAT programme was just like sponsored programme. If Shri Rajat Sharma wants to know the internal feeling of muslims then live programme to be telecast in presence of audience. Otherwise it was rehearsing programme based on money power spent by some CHACHAS to shine on T.V to achieve political & vested interest. P.M is interested to gain more & more BJP MLA in Vidhan Sabaha to increase M.P. in Rajya Sabha to clear Mandir, 370 & Common Civil Code bills & many more to implement RSS Agenda. Mr Zafar Sareshwala may be a Sunnii Tablighee member but he is more worried of his business and nothing to do with poor muslims & muslim community. Not to trust P.M. & Sareshwala & 2 muslim faces usualy appearing on TV channels but see what happened to them. Ihave full sympathy with muslims.
