NEW DELHI: Last evening hundreds of volunteers belonging to United Muslim Front, a Muslim pressure group, gathered on Okhla Head, in Jamia Nagar to burn the effigy of Najma Heptulla, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs against her anti Muslim remark.

At the time of effigy burning, Advocate Shahid Ali ,  the president of United Muslims Front said the Muslims are very angry at the anti Muslim statement of Najma Heptulla and the United Musli Front  is just representing that anger by burning her effigy.

Shahid Ali further stated that the  statement Najma Heptulla reflects the mind set of BJP and its a calculated strategy in order to oust and deprive Muslims from the so called privileges of being minority.

Cautioning the Muslims Advocate Shahid Ali said that if such statements are allowed to persist and Muslims will not oppose such malicious statement there is a chance that Muslims may lose the minority status and eventually Muslims institutions like Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Milia Islamia University may lose the minority character. He further said that it’s the Constitution of India which has empowered minorities to run and administere their own institutions.

People from different walks of life took part in the programme of effigy burning and expressed their anger and fully supported the cause raised by United Muslims Front.
