Gorakhpur, 3 Dec 14 “The image of Muslims and Islam portrayed by the western media makes us to believe that the Islam and its Prophet Muhammad (SAW) propagate terrorism and violence and the cult of violence owes much to these teachings. These assertions have no iota of truth as Islam and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) have given the concept of peace, tolerance and co existence and the Prophet always advised the Muslims to eschew violence”, said a renowned faculty member of Aligarh Muslim University and President Sir Syed Awareness Forum, Prof. Shakeel Samdani while speaking on ‘Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Global Peace’ at Miya Sahab Islamia Inter College, Gorakhpur as Chief Guest. He said that the last Prophet emphasised more on justice and education and his life is full of the examples of justice. When Prophet Muhammad (SAW) declared his Prophet hood at that time there were only 17 literate persons in Mecca and exactly after 23 years when he left this world there were many lac people who were not only literate but well educated and expert in Quran, Hadith, legal knowledge, literature, history etc. The most important feature of Prophet’s life was democratisation of knowledge/ education. This achievement of Prophet Muhammad is unique in the history of Prophets.
Expressing his views about the battles fought by Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Prof. Shakeel Samdani said that most of them were defensive in nature and total causalities from both the sides was around one thousand. Had Prophet Muhammad (SAW) believed in violence and killing the figure would have been much higher. History stands as witness that most of the Islamic rulers especially the rightly guided Caliphs have spread love, affection, tolerance and peace after their victory. Prof Samdani further said that Islam has given equal protection to men and women and for the first time in the history of the civilized world women were declared as owner of their body and soul. They were given share in property and their status was enhanced to such an extent that the road to jannah was declared to be through the mother, wife and the daughter. It means that if a person wants to go to paradise then he will have to respect the rights of women and restore them. Due to the successful mission of Prophet the non Muslim scholars have acknowledged him as the most successful person in the history of mankind which is evident from ‘The Hundred’ written by a Christian scientist Michel Hart who placed Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as number one and his own Prophet Jesus Christ at number three.
In a jam packed auditorium Prof. Samdani urged the audience to lead their life in accordance with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and devote their time and energy for constructive activities and spend their money for social work also. He also requested the audience to abstain from difference on the basis of schools of thoughts and remain united. While replying a question relating to present political scenario in India Prof. Samdani opined that India is a democratic country where everyone is free to participate in political activity and the freedoms and liberties which we are enjoying in this country is not available to Muslims in many other countries. We should be thankful to Almighty Allah that we are getting so much freedom in socialist, secular, democratic republic that is India.
Inaugurating the Islamic exhibition Prof. Samdani congratulated the Manager, Rashid Kamal Samani, Principal, Zafar Ahmad Khan and Convenor, Mukhtar Ahmad. A three day Seerat Conference and state level competition was organized by the college in which large number of students from all over the state participated. The program was presided over by Dr. Mirza Shafi Baig (London), Rashid Kamal Samani welcomed the guests, Vote of thanks was proposed by Zafar Ahmad Khan and the program was conducted by Tariq Shafiq Nadwi. The program was concluded after the dua of Mufti Waliullah.
The conference became a great success due to the presence of Mahmood Saeed Haris, Assistant Manager, Ahmad Naseem Ansari, Shafiq Ahmad Ansari, Associate Professors, Gorakhpur University, Mohiuddin Khan, Dr. Wahid Ali, Mirza Rafiq Baig, Dr. Ashfaq, Najmul Hasan, Jabir Ali Siddiqui, Nadeemullah Abbasi, Dr. Ghyasuddin Ansari, Niyaz Khan, Anis Ahmad, Ahmad Tanzeem, Afzal Khan, etc.
Rightly said by Prof. Samdani that media is posting a negative image of Islam and our Prophet. More seerat conferences should be organised throughout the country in order to clear the real image of Islam.
To accomplish your goal/suggestion, I propose that all who call themselves Muslim and care to post anything, conciliatory or combative, should try to explain one co-countryman from the non-Muslim faith, including RSS/BJP card-carrying members, what Islam is, according to Allah, Quran, Mohammad (PBUH), and other secondary/tertiary sources. Believe me, non-Muslims are accepting Islam not by looking @ us, who have very little to write home about, but because of what the Quran contains, how His Prophet explained and practiced those principles in the mundane life of this physical world with their neighbors, relatives, co-workers, families, not only 3000 friends on Facebook, but not on speaking terms with their aging parents, biological siblings, and childhood playmates. Muslims have to own their self-inflicted predicament of avoidance, disgust, hatred.
