New Delhi: Breakaway group of Aam Aadmi Party led by note lawyer Prashant Bhushan and Prof Yogendra Yadav today announced launching a political party by October 2. At the first national delegate convention of Swaraj Abhiyan held hereĀ on Sunday, a declaration of forming a political party has been taken and a call towards alternative politics has been made.
The proposal to form a party was passed with a majority of 92.5% votes. Out of the 433 delegates who voted, 405 supported this proposal and 26 didnāt agree and two votes were invalid. Results of the voting were announced by election officers at the convention held today at Constitution Club today.
Swaraj Abhiyan pledged that it will launch a political party byĀ 2nd OctoberĀ and a 6 members committee to work in that direction was also announced.
As per its commitment to internal democracy, Swaraj Abhiyan has constituted duly elected committees in 114 districts and 7 states of the country. A detailed organization report was presented before the delegates by Ajit Jha.
Prashant Bhushan announced a 3 member Lokpal committee with Kamini Jaiswal, Sumit Chakraborty and Noor Mohammad. To ensure transparency in its affairs, Swaraj Abhiyan has voluntarily kept itself under RTI and has also appointed an Information Officer.
Prof. Anand Kumar was reelected as the national president of Swaraj Abhiyan. Christina Sami from Tamil Nadu, Avik Saha from Bengal, Purushottam from Andhra Pradesh and P.S.Sharda from Delhi have been elected as Vice Presidents. Faheem Khan as General Secretary and Girish Nandgaokar and Rajeev Dhyani were been elected as Secretaries.
A status report on its four main programs – Jai Kisan Andolan, Anti corruption team (ACT),Shiksha Swaraj and Aman committee was also presented. Youth for Swaraj, Y4S, the Youth and student wing of Swaraj Abhiyan was also introduced.
