Guwahati: Academic discourse, deliberations by invited guests, and performances by students marked the celebration of Teachers Day at Shaheen Academy in Guwahati on Wednesday. The chief guest at the event, Anwar Hussain Laskar, MLA Hailakandi, addressed the students on the occasion and exhorted them to become exemplary citizens of the country so that their teachers can take pride in them.
After felicitation of faculty and guests present on the occasion, the students took part in a discourse to highlight the contribution of teachers in the transformation of students into professionals, intellectuals, and good citizens of the country. Masuma Khanam, Sultana Begum, Wahida Begum, Rasmi Khatun, and Reshmin Sultana took leading part in the discourse.

Sultan Uddin Ahmed, Principal, Shaheen Academy paid glowing tributes to Dr S Radhakrishnan and other leading teachers of India who have set benchmarks and left bright examples behind them which need to be emulated by us today. Others who spoke on the occasion were Mehboobur Rahman, faculty; Kawsar Choudhury, founder, Al Noor National School, Karimganj; Nurul Laskar, PR Consultant; and FA Choudhury, executive, Child Friendly Guwahati at Snehalaya.
The cultural group of the academy led by Momotaj Begum, Mashuda Begum, Shitara Rahbin, and Afruja Khatun, under the guidance and mentorship of Mayuri Sarma, faculty presented a musical programme showcasing the different aspects of Teachers Day.

All teachers were given gifts by the students. Overwhelmed by the performance of the students, Anwar Hussain Choudhury, MLA announced that he would be hosting a luncheon for the students and faculty of the Academy very soon.
