Muzaffarnagar: The  local administration in Shamli district has  bulldozed makeshifts camps of the riot victims on Monday  with the help of local police leaving hundreds of vulnerable people, including children and women, homeless.  Muslim organizations condemned the UP government for taking such drastic move to evict the victims.

Bulldozed-Relief-Camps-Angers-India-MuslimsIt is reported that the victims were reluctant to return back to their homes fearing backlash and had requested the administration not to displace them from the camps. But the state government paid no heed to their requests and forced them to evict the land. As many as 250 families were living in three camps in the districts.

The All India Milli Council (AIMC) has strongly reacted on the Uttar Pradesh government’s move to remove riot victims from camps in Shamli district terming the action ‘inhuman’ and ‘unconstitutional’. AIMC general secretary Dr Manzoor Alam said that without ensuring safety to the victims, the SP government has removed them at the ‘mercy of goons’. He said Samajawadi Party has betrayed its true colour by displacing the victims without taking safety into consideration. It seems that the SP government is under   pressure from the communal elements after it faced humiliating defeat in the just concluded general elections.
