New Delhi : Haryana Police has come in the dock of National Commission for Minorities (NCM) for its botched up investigation into the Mewat rape and murder case where a Muslim couple was killed and two young Muslim women were raped.
On 22 September, a NCM team consisting of Chairman Naseem Ahmad and Praveen Davar visited Dingerheri village in Mewat district where the two crimes had taken place.
In its report the team pointed out at the alleged role of gau rakshaks in the twin crimes. A copy of the report has been sent to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Excerpt from the report:
“The incident has shaken the people of the area and there is a lot of resentment, especially among the Muslim community, partly due to the allegations that the culprits were gau rakshaks. There is a need to convey a clear message that culprits of such heinous crimes would not be spared. Such a step is more relevant in the context of the Mewat district,”
During its two-hour visit the team met the aggrieved family and local authorities.
The NMC report noted that the beef connection has been omitted from statement recorded under Section 164 of CrPC.
Neither the fact that the rape victim was asked by the accused if she ate beef has been recorded nor has the fact that the attackers were gau rakshanks been recorded in the statement.
NCM’s report has alleged the role of police in covering up these facts.
It should be noted here that MuslimMirror.com was the first which highlighted the involvement of Gau Rakshaks in this most brutal murder and rape case in the history of Haryana.
