In an incident that occurred in August, three men have been arrested and five others booked for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a 32-year-old Dalit woman in the Deedwana Kuchaman district of Rajasthan. This incident came to light in October, leading to the filing of a case on Sunday.
Circle Officer Dharam Chand Poonia, who is overseeing the investigation, provided details of the case. The case has been registered against five individuals under section 376 (D) of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to gang rape, as well as sections of the SC/ST Act. The accused have been identified as Kishore Mali, Ramdev Thalod, and Tejpal. While these three have been taken into custody, a relentless hunt is underway to apprehend the remaining two accused, who are still at large.
The victim, a 32-year-old Dalit woman, appeared before a court on Monday, where her statement regarding the horrifying ordeal was recorded. The incident has ignited outrage and calls for swift justice within the community and beyond.
