The Central government announced its decision to replace the 34-year-old National Policy on Education, with the New Education Policy 2020. The NEP, approved by the union cabinet, makes utter reforms in school and centre of higher education. Since many political parties of various states oppose NEP alleging that it grabs the rights of common civilians to educate themselves one among them is the opposition leader of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, DMK president MK Stalin. Allied parties of DKM have also raised serious concerns against the same.

The Coalition parties led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) including Manithaneya makkal katchi (MMK) presided by Dr.MH.Jawahirullah, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) Chief Dr.Thol ThirumaValavan and other left parties together have demanded Tamil Nadu to completely ignore the new education policy, which was announced by the central government with Aryan Varnasirama fundamentals aimed at darkening Tamil Nadu as claimed by MK Stalin.

MMK chief Jawaharullah said “We also welcome that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanichamy has announced that the bilingual policy (Tamil and English) will be followed in Tamil Nadu and the trilingual policy (Tamil, English and Hindi) recommended by the new education policy will not be followed. But it is disappointing that CM didn’t utter anything about the ambiguities of the new education policy.

He added “The government of Tamil Nadu was well aware of the dangers of the NEET system introduced by the Central BJP government for medical education and hence it decided to oppose it. The NEET exam, which was based on a petition that claimed the lives of innocent students, shattered their Dreams from becoming a doctor for the rural poor students especially the students studying at the State Board of Education. The same NEET selection system introduces a new educational policy for each degree course. The new education policy states that students must succeed in the entrance exam conducted by the online NTA National Examination Agency in college education.

Thereby pointing the statistics, he adds “Tamil Nadu has a Gross Enrollment Ratio of 49% where it is noteworthy that the percentage of India as a whole is 26.3%. At the same time, it is noteworthy that the BJP has 28% in ruling Karnataka and only 20% in Gujarat, the BJP’s testing ground. The key element of the new education policy is to destroy the high percentage of higher education enrollment, just as it destroyed the medical dream of Tamil Nadu students.

MH Jawahirullah demanded that the government of Tamil Nadu should completely reject this corrupt education policy which consists of harassing students in the name of public examination in 3rd, 5th and 8th classes in school education and dumping students in the name of vocational education by lowering their confidence level. Further, we request the Government of Tamil Nadu to urge the Central Government to adopt and declare the education policy of the Dravidian Governments, which have made tremendous achievements in higher education, as the National Education Policy. States the alliance of DMK altogether.
